HOWARD COUNTY, MD — When a brush fire broke out near the Patapsco River recently, the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services was brought in to help out.

Due to the rough, steep terrain, firefighters from the department's special operations team set up rope rescue systems to lower members down a rockface so they could reach the brush fire.

Park service employees shared that the fire was sparked by an unattended campfire. With dry weather, campers and others are reminded to extinguish all campfires before leaving a site, according to the county department of fire and rescue services.
