Voting Rights Of Student Member On Howard County Education Board Upheld In Court

The voting rights of the student member sitting on Howard County's board of education have been upheld in court following a lawsuit.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The voting rights of the student member sitting on Howard County's board of education have been upheld by Maryland's highest court.

An appeal to a lawsuit trying to limit the vote of the student member on the Howard County Board of Education failed before the Maryland’s Court of Appeals, reports WTOP.

In December 2020, parents Kimberly Ford and Traci Spiegel filed the lawsuit after court documents stated the pair were “disappointed with the [Howard County Board of Education]’s decision to continue with remote learning” following votes in November and December of 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic.
