Baltimore County Adds 4 Ambulances to Fleet

Middle River is among the stations experiencing increased demand for medical services.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD -- There will be more ambulances to meet demand at four stations in Baltimore County starting this week.

An additional ambulance has been added to each of these stations during peak hours, Baltimore County public safety officials say:

  • Golden Ring
  • Middle River
  • Woodlawn
  • Pikesville

Authorities said that the demand for medical services at those four stations was “especially high.”

The ambulances (aka advanced life support units) will operate from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays, starting Jan. 4, county officials report.

“Every Baltimore County citizen deserves to know that trained EMTs and paramedics will be there to help when he or she needs it,” Baltimore County Fire Chief John Hohman said. “The demand for EMS service continues to grow, and we recognize the need to grow with it.

More than 70 percent of all calls to the fire service are for medical incidents, according to a statement from Baltimore County.

Of the 126,686 fire department calls in 2014 in Baltimore County, authorities said EMS incidents accounted for 91,521 of them.
