Middleborough Firefighter Taken to Hospital from Rosedale Roofing Blaze: Officials

Warehouse fire shut down Middle River Road Monday afternoon.

One firefighter was taken to a local hospital from a Middle River building blaze that erupted Monday afternoon and continued to burn into the night, Baltimore County public safety officials said.

At approximately 1:36 p.m., Baltimore County firefighters were dispatched to Rosedale Roofing in the 1200 block of Middle River Road and found heavy fire and smoke inside a warehouse, public safety officials reported. Nobody was inside requiring rescue, according to the report.

The fire raged on into the evening, with approximately 100 firefighters working to extinguish it from the outside, the report said. One firefighter from Middleborough Volunteer Fire Company who was feeling ill was taken to a local hospital as a precaution, according to Baltimore County officials.

Authorities said that fire commanders brought in heavy equipment Monday night to remove a wall so the building wouldn’t collapse.

Smoke billowed from the warehouse, visible for miles around, WBAL reported.

Overnight, crews checked for hot spots to ensure the fire wasn’t lingering anywhere, according to WJZ.

Authorities asked drivers to avoid the area of the blaze due to the firefighting operations and equipment.

Middle River Road was closed between US 40 and Philadelphia Road, according to ABC 2 News.
