House Fire In Essex Under Control, Officials Say
Officials said one firefighter was evaluated for possible heat exhaustion on Sunday in Essex.

ESSEX, MD – Firefighters battled a house fire in Essex Sunday, as temperatures neared triple digits on the heat index. It was 90 degrees in Essex at 2 p.m. and felt like 98 degrees, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a heat advisory for the region from noon until 8 p.m.
The house fire broke out in the 600 block of Dunwich Way before 12:15 p.m.
Two additional engines and a medic were requested to assist at the scene, where one firefighter was evaluated for heat exhaustion and released.

There were no reported injuries.
By 2:10 p.m., officials said the fire had been placed under control.
