Today's riddle: What do you get when you cross an angry cow with an angry sheep? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. No Charges For MoCo Officers After Fatal Bus Stop Shooting (patch.com) — Gaithersburg readers are learning that six city and county officers involved in the July 21 fatal shooting of an armed man at a Lost Knife Road bus stop will not face criminal charges. Maryland's attorney general said investigators found insufficient evidence of a crime after reviewing the confrontation near Montgomery Village Plaza, where officers say the man pointed a loaded handgun while bystanders were being cleared.
2. New Weather Station Activated in Laytonsville, Three More Planned Across Montgomery County (mocoshow.com) — Montgomery County is adding a dedicated weather station in Gaithersburg by year's end, giving local emergency officials better, real‑time data for storms, flooding, snow, and heat. Part of the Maryland Mesonet expansion, the new solar‑powered station will track temperature, wind, rainfall, and soil conditions, helping protect residents and businesses and supporting the county's broader climate‑resilience goals.
3. School Graffiti, Stolen Vehicles, and Burglaries Included in September 8 Crime Summary (mocoshow.com subscription) — Montgomery County Police are reporting several recent crimes, including a vehicle theft and a residential burglary in the 6th District that serves Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village. A car was stolen from Streamside Drive and property was taken from a home on Nina Court, alongside other burglaries, thefts, and a hate/bias graffiti incident elsewhere in the county.
4. Gaithersburg officials may be warming to anti-ICE laws (thebanner.com) — Gaithersburg leaders are rethinking their stance on local laws limiting cooperation with federal immigration enforcement after protests and growing concern about ICE activity in city spaces. The City Council has passed a resolution saying Gaithersburg Police and city staff should not assist federal immigration enforcement, while activists continue pressing for stronger, county-aligned protections for immigrant residents.
