Quick Tip: 140 Characters in a Tweet?
Blogger Robin Ferrier offers advice when crafting your next tweet.
I thought I'd start offering some Social Media/PR/Marketing Quick Tips as part of this blog.
Today's Quick Tip involves Twitter.
One problem I often run into with Twitter is the 140 character limit when I'm doing a RT. Once I add in the RT @HANDLENAME, I often find a RT is more than 140 characters. Sure, I can do a MT (modified tweet) instead and take the time to edit the tweet to fit the 140 character limit. And sometimes I do just that. But often I'm too busy to take the time to figure out a good edit. Instead, I'll just delete the RT.

So next time you're writing a tweet, craft a tweet that will be less than 140 characters when someone includes the RT @YOURHANDLENAME when they're retweeting it. It'll help to encourage RTs from others.
