5th Annual Jubilation Day Gospel Concert

Gospel music, the uniquely American art form that gave rise to jazz, blues, R&B, and rock and roll, will be celebrated in all of its glory as the City of Gaithersburg presents the 5th Annual Jubilation Day 2011 Gospel Concert, the kick off of the City’s 13th Anniversary Gaithersburg Outdoor Summer Concert Series.

On Saturday, June 4 from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m., the Concert Pavilion at City Hall will host performances by local and regional choirs, choruses, quartets, dancers, comedians and singers, headlined this year by “Rev. James N. Flowers, Jr. and Family.”  Elder Flowers and his family have traveled near and far, spreading the gospel through their singing, uplifting, encouraging and ministering to people of all walks of life.  Together they have recorded nine CDs, including a Christmas CD, five DVDs including the 25th Pastors’ Anniversary DVD where his guest was Pastor Shirley Caesar, and a mini movie video featuring their number one hit, “Ride Out Your Storm.”  After 25 years his motto remains the same… “LIVE SO GOD CAN USE YOU.”

The celebration will also feature food and crafts for purchase.  Gaithersburg’s Concert Pavilion is located at 31 S. Summit Avenue in front of City Hall.  Admission to Jubilation Day is free.
