Oil Paintings of Rulei Bu

The City of Gaithersburg welcomes the return of the colorful oil paintings of Rulei Bu and his young students to the Arts Barn Gallery. With this exhibit, visitors can discover how Bu’s realistic style influences his students and captures the hearts of his viewers.

Featuring landscapes of east coast cities and harbors, floral still lifes, and oil paintings from his students on a variety of subjects. Viewing hours are Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm and Saturday from 1:30 to 5:30pm.

"Bu achieved artistic acclaim at a young age. He taught painting for five years in China, was published in three different volumes of Chinese Art, and was commissioned to create 100-foot and 115-foot frescoes in public buildings in Shanghai. All this was accomplished before he reached the age of 30.  He creates paintings and teaches art at his studio in Maryland since moving to the U.S. in 1998.  A graduate of Fine Art from Shanghai University, Bu uses complex textures, rich and clear colors and unique perspectives. Smooth surfaces, harmonious hues, and accurate detail are characteristic of his paintings, which have won the Platinum Palette Award in The National Oil and Acrylic Painters' Society “Best of America! 2010 Exhibit.”  He has guest articles in Who's Who in America and was featured in the books, “Best of America” and “American Art Collector,” as well as on the magazine cover “Capitol Hill.”" from a city press release
