Forever 21, FYE Closing At Lakeforest Mall: Report
Two more retailers are saying goodbye to Gaithersburg's Lakeforest Mall, according to a report.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Two more stores are reportedly closing at Gaithersburg's struggling Lakeforest Mall.
The MoCo Show reports that fast fashion retailer Forever 21 and entertainment chain FYE (For Your Entertainment) will be shuttering its doors for good in December 2019 and January 2020, respectively. The pending closures comes at a time when both retailers and Lakeforest Mall struggle to attract customers.
Forever 21, the clothing store giant known for its low prices, filed for bankruptcy last month. As part of its restructuring plan, Forever 21 announced it would close dozens of stores across the country, including in Lakeforest Mall.

FYE — a retailer that specializes in music, movies, video games, and memorabilia — has closed multiple stores across the country as it struggles to thrive in the digital age. It shuttered its doors at Westfield Wheaton earlier this year.
In recent years, Lakeforest Mall has faced high vacancy rates and financial instability. Within the last six months, major retailers, such as JCPenny, Lord & Taylor, and Sears, announced they were closing up shop. The moves have reportedly affected more than 100 employees.
