Gaithersburg Blasts Blake 56-25 to Seal Second Consecutive Undefeated Season in Girls Basketball

Lady Trojans extend winning streak to 47 games.

On Tuesday, February 21, the undefeated and third-ranked Gaithersburg Lady Trojans ran past the Blake Lady Bengals 56-25 at Blake High School in Olney.

The Lady Trojans jumped to a 12-5 lead after the first quarter and extended the lead to 26-13 at the half.  They then blew the game open in the third quarter, building their lead to 47-17.

The Lady Trojans cruised to the victory as coach Adrian "Hot Dog" McDaniel pulled his starters early and gave everyone on the team an opportunity to play.

Seniors Jackie Jackson, Colleen Marshall, and Octavia Scott led the Lady Trojans with 13 points, 12 points, and 10 points, respectively.

The Lady Trojans improved to 22-0 for the season, while extending their winning streak to 47 games.  The Lady Bengals dropped to 4-18.

Gaithersburg, one of only two girls teams in The Washington Post’s top 20 to finish the regular season undefeated (Oakton in Virginia was the other), will now prepare to defend its 2011 Maryland 4A State Championship.
