Gaithersburg Woman Hit by School Bus Dies: UPDATE

A woman has died from injuries suffered Thursday when she was hit by a Montgomery County Schools bus in Rockville.

UPDATED at 5:15 p.m.

A Gaithersburg woman has died from injuries suffered when she was struck by a Montgomery County School bus Thursday morning at Crabbs Branch Way and Redland Road in Rockville.

The pedestrian has been identified as Crucita Reynoso, 58, of Calypso Court in Gaithersburg. She died Thursday afternoon, police said.

The Montgomery County Public School bus was driven by Jonathan Chinghun Chiu, 54, of Tygard Court in Gaithersburg.

According to Montgomery County Police, Reynoso was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police Spokeswoman Natasha Plotnikov told Montgomery Community Media the bus struck the woman.

No students were on the bus at the time of the accident, she said.

Police say the school bus was turning left onto Crabbs Branch when Reynoso was hit. Investigators are trying to determine if she was in the crosswalk.

Authorities have not said if charges are likely to be filed.
