GALLERY: Gaithersburg Baseball Fights Hard but Falls to Walter Johnson

After jumping to an early lead, Gaithersburg remained scoreless for the remainder of the game.

Walter Johnson High School edged streaking Gaitherburg High School 4-3 in Bethesda on Thursday.

Gaithersburg surged to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first when Senior Catcher Danny Freshley (#22) hit a triple, driving in two runs, and then scored on a fielder's error.  However, Walter Johnson rallied in the bottom of the first, evening the score at 3-3.  Freshman Trojan pitcher Nick Decarlo (#9) pitched brilliantly from late in the first inning through the sixth inning, but Walter Johnson snuck one runner across home plate in the sixth.

Gaithersburg got runners to second and third in the top of the seventh, but Walter Johnson tightened up and shut down the Gaithersburg rally to close out the game.  Despite the loss, Gaithersburg stands at an impressive 7-2.
