Gang Member Gets 40 Years In Connection To Teen Murdered In Gaithersburg Park

Vanesa Alvarado was accused of luring Cristian Antonio Villagran-Morales to a park with the knowledge that he would be murdered.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A 20-year-old gang member received 40 years in prison after she allegedly lured a man to a park by promising to have sex with him. When 18-year-old Cristian Antonio Villagran-Morales arrived, gang members asked him to go into the woods with them to smoke marijuana, and then killed him.

Vanesa Alvarado, of Gaithersburg, received a life sentence with all but 40 years suspended as part of a plea deal with Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office, WTOP reports.

On June 17, 2016 officers were called to Malcolm King Park, 1200 West Side Drive for the report of a death. First responders located the victim, Villagran-Morales of Gaithersburg, deceased in the park.

Villagran-Morales was stabbed more than 40 times after Alvarado allegedly lured him to the park by promising to have sex with him, police said. Once Villagran-Morales arrived, gang members asked him to go into the woods with them to smoke marijuana, where he was killed.

“Miss Alvarado’s role in this case was to lure the victim to a remote area [with] a pledge of sex,” State’s Attorney John McCarthy said in a news conference, according to WTOP. “Miss Alvarado knew that if she wooed this young man down into this isolated pathway, that there were four individuals waiting for him, to kill him — to execute him. And that’s what they did.”

The judge called the incident "utterly brutal."

Montgomery County Police arrested four other suspects in connection to the murder:

  • Juan Gutierrez-Vasquez, 16, of Gaithersburg (charged as an adult) – arrested on July 1, 2016
  • Oscar Ernesto Delgado-Perez, of an unconfirmed address – arrested on September 7, 2016
  • Josue Fermin Caudra-Quintanilla, 18, of Hyattsville – arrested on February 3, 2017
  • Jose Coreas Ventura, 20 — arrested March 28, 2017
