The Gaithersburg girls overcame a slow start to win a decisive victory over the Northwest Jaguars, 66-45.
On Friday, January 20, 2012, the Gaithersburg High School Lady Trojans overcame a slow start and ran past the Northwest High School Lady Jaguars in a highly anticipated and well attended contest between the local powerhouses.
In the end, the Trojans came out on top, 66-45.
Northwest dominated the first quarter, seizing a a 14-7 lead against undefeated and third ranked Gaithersburg.

But, the Lady Trojans turned up the defensive pressure in the second quarter, holding the Lady Jaguars scoreless for much of the period as they surged to a 24-21 lead at halftime.
In the third quarter, Senior Colleen Marshall, Senior Jackie Jackson, and Sophomore Janessa Fauntroy spearheaded an fantastic offensive display as the Lady Trojans pulled away.

Senior Michelle Winters' sharp shooting in the fourth quarter helped seal the win for the Lady Trojans.
Gaithersburg extended its winning streak the 38 games while improving to 13-0 this season. They host Magruder High School at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 24, 2012.
