On Friday, February 10, the undefeated and third-ranked Gaithersburg Lady Trojans used a total team effort to rout the Walt Whitman Lady Vikings 69-39 in front of a large, enthusiastic crowd at Gaithersburg High School.
The Lady Trojans surged to a 21-8 lead after the first quarter, and they built the lead to 33-16 at the half.
Senior Jackie Jackson led the Lady Trojans with 21 points, while Senior Colleen Marshall and Sophomore Janessa Fauntroy added 15 and 11, respectively. Head Coach Adrian "Hot Dog" McDaniel used every player on his active roster, and several of the younger players made significant contributions, including Sophomore Victoria McClure who drained a long outside shot late in the game, igniting a wild response from the home court crowd.
Sophomore Danielle Rojas injured her knee late in the game and had to be helped from the court.
The Lady Trojans improved to 19-0 for the season, while extending their winning streak to 44 games. The Lady Vikings dropped to 10-7.
They host Watkins Mill at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14.
