(Updated) Missing Gaithersburg Woman Found Safe In Montgomery Village

The cousin of the teen slain in Virginia was found safe and unharmed Tuesday, police said.

(Updated at 12:49 p.m. Tuesday) GAITHERSBURG, MD — Montgomery County Police located the missing 18-year-old Gaithersburg woman Tuesday morning. Angelica Ivania Barahona-Rivas was located in Montgomery Village safe and unharmed, police said.

Angelica Ivania Barahona-Rivas was last known to be at work at the Wok Express at 9615 Lost Knife Road in Gaithersburg Saturday night, Feb. 25, at about 9 p.m. Investigators believe she left work about that time, leaving early before her shift was scheduled to be completed.

Family and friends told police that they have not been able to contact her and are concerned. Sunday night investigators said there are some indications that Barahona-Rivas may be in New Jersey.

WJLA reports that Barahona-Rivas is the cousin of Damaris Reyes Rivas, of Gaithersburg, who was reported missing in December, and whose remains were found Feb. 11 near a Springfield, Virginia, industrial park. Fairfax County Police charged 10 people for abduction and gang participation in the death of the 15-year-old from Gaithersburg. Virginia detectives have obtained murder charges for five suspects, two adults and three teenagers.

Barahona-Rivas is described as 18 years old, 5′ 3″ tall, and weighs 150 pounds. At the time she left work she was wearing a tan shirt, tan skirt, a gray jacket, black boots, and carrying a pink purse.
