Police Believe Man Found Dead On Gaithersburg Road Was Hit By Car

Police believe the dead man they found at an intersection in Gaithersburg on Nov. 13 was struck and killed by a car.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Police believe the dead man they found at an intersection in Gaithersburg on Nov. 13 was struck and killed by a car. Investigators were able to track down the vehicle and the driver involved in the incident. The driver — whom police did not identify — has been cooperating, officials said.

Shortly before 8:45 a.m. on Nov. 13, police found 34-year-old Dammeon Terrell Powell at the intersection of Cherry Laurel Lane and Coriander Drive. Officials, who at the time described the death as suspicious, are conducting an investigation.

Powell's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, police said. The autopsy results are pending.
