The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association drew up its brackets for the state basketball tournaments Saturday. Maryland high school basketball is divided into four classes based on enrollment. As expected, the Gaithersburg Lady Trojans were given the top seed in the West division. The top three seeds are each given first-round byes. They will play the winner of the Richard Montgomery and Bethesda-Chevy Chase game in their first match of the girls tournament.

Meanwhile, the boys team was placed in the fourth seed in their tournament, and will play Bethesda-Chevy Chase at home in the first round this Friday. While they don't get a first-round bye, the Trojans will play at home throughout the tournament until they make it to play against a higher seed. The top three seeds went to the powerhouses of the county: Springbrook, Magruder and Churchill.
