Trojan Girls Advance to State Championships
A win over North Point sends them to the 4A finals.
The Gaithersburg girls basketball team advanced to the state finals tonight, beating Charles County's North Point High School 62-35.
The game remained close until the end of the third quarter, when Gaithersburg ended the quarter on a 13-0 run. Senior Sarah Seipp led the Trojans with 18 points, while Kara Marshall scored 13 points, including three 3-pointers.
Both teams shot relatively poorly, and Gaithersburg missed an unusual amount of open shots. The Trojans shot just 10 of 39 in the first half. North Point played exceptional defense under the basket, and out-rebounded Gaithersburg 49-47.
