The U.S. is an Apartheid State Now (Thanks, Israel, for the How-To Lesson)

Today in Gaza, Israel continues its war against children, killing them with bullets & shrapnel, denial of medicine, and withholding of cloth so that children freeze to death, as it has every day for more than 100 days of the "not-a-ceasefire." In the West Bank, Israel demolishes more homes, kills more kids.

Today in the United States, Jim Crow has returned, flapping his glossy wings. Federal officers are on slave patrol. A 2025 U.S. Supreme Court 6-to-3 decision (Noem v. Vasquez Perdom) made it legal for an ICE officer to come up to a person and ask them questions based on the color of their skin, their accent, and where they work.

These things are not unrelated. And they have been a long time in the preparation. Did you notice?

For decades, Israel has tested how to surveil, control, and "reduce" its excess & unwanted populations – and has trained American municipal police and U.S. federal officers (e.g., ICE ) on how to do it too. In gratitude, the U.S. has provided money and diplomatic cover for Israel's experiments on human beings. The roots of this sick relationship reach deep into the history and psychology of both societies. Consider our shared practice of colonial land grab & genocide. In this short piece, we can't cover all that. But we do want to share the plain observation that the ongoing murders by ICE are not merely a product of the Trump administration. They are a sign of the new world order, in which we will live without the United Nations, without international law, and without civil rights. Israel and the U.S. have destroyed them. Both Democratic and Republican presidents & parties eagerly supported genocide in Gaza, the testing ground for that new world, over decades.

The wealthy who run the United States, Clinton / Bush / Trump, don't want citizens. They want serfs.

Israel's actions in Gaza and the West Bank explain what is happening in the U.S. now, and show us what can easily happen next. The just laws are weakened, the guns are loaded, the U.S. Department of War is awash in cash, so here we go. Tanks in the street. Denial of medicine. Starvation. Schools bulldozed. Drones in the sky authorized by AI to fire from turret guns. Kangaroo military courts run by religious fanatics. Blockade of Gaza bleeds into a blockade of Cuba. Maybe there will be a blockade of U.S. cities with a Democratic-Party mayor. (Update: Yup, it's happening now 2026-08-30: Trump blocks federal funds to states for healthcare whose governors he does not like. Americans are dying.) Checkpoints on the interstate next? Yes, if you have brown skin, ICE might pull you over.

Don't buy a gun. The government has many more aimed at you. You must find a different way to resist.

During the Great March of Return, Israeli (IDF) young men shot 36,317 human beings – men and women, boys and girls – like they were fish in a barrel. In 2018. Did you notice? Were you surprised when Palestinian young men retaliated in kind on Oct 7, 2023?

So if we want to get at the root causes of the state violence we see all around us, let us begin with Palestine. (Pastor Munther Isaac: "Palestine has become the moral compass of the world.") Palestinian civil society leaders say, so often, "Yes, it is us who are suffering today, experiencing a genocide, but it is international law that is at stake. It is humanity that is on trial." Theirs is not a call for ethnic supremacy. It is a call for justice and compassion. Did you notice?
