Frederick Driver Identified in Fatal Clarksburg Crash

A Frederick man died on Thanksgiving when his vehicle slammed into a tree and a telephone pole near Clarksburg on Frederick Road (Route 355.

CLARKSBURG, MD — Authorities have released the name of an older Frederick driver who died on Thanksgiving day in a single-vehicle crash in the Clarksburg area.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department are trying to determine what caused the fatal collision that occurred in Clarksburg on Nov. 24. The accident was reported just after 12:30 p.m. that day near Frederick Road (Route 355) and Comus Road.

Investigators say a 2012 Nissan Altima was southbound on Frederick Road heading toward Comus Road. For reasons still under investigation, the Altima left the road, struck a tree and then struck a telephone pole.

The driver, George William Brust, 74, of the 5500 block of Feagaville Lane in Frederick, died from his injuries at the scene, police say.
