Germantown Teen Drowns at Frederick County Lake

Germantown, MD — An 18-year-old from Germantown drowned Friday afternoon while swimming in Frederick County's Lake Linganore.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says that Andrew Dantzler of Germantown drowned at the lake, reports WTOP. Investigators determined the drowning was accidental.

Sheriff's officers were called to the lake about 3:45 p.m. Friday. Dantzler was swimming with friends near the beach when he became tired and disappeared under the water, witnesses said.

Rescue teams searched for the teen for four hours before locating his body at 7:45 p.m.
