Man Sentenced To 50 Years In Fatal Stabbing At MoCo Hotel

GERMANTOWN, MD — A man who fatally stabbed his ex-girlfriend's friend in a "jealous rage" at a Montgomery County hotel in 2019 has been sentenced to 50 years in prison, according to prosecutors.

A judge on Monday sentenced Kyle Noble, 30, to serve 60 years in prison with all but 50 years suspended in the death of 31-year-old Efrain Arias, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office said in a statement. Noble was also sentenced to five years probation following his release.

Arias died on Sept. 15, 2019, after Noble confronted him as he exited his car in the parking lot of the Extended Stay America hotel on Milestone Center Drive in Germantown. According to prosecutors, Noble chased Arias down a hill and into a field near the parking lot before he fatally stabbed him. Prosecutors said Noble then returned and robbed a dying Arias.

According to prosecutors, the attack was fueled by "drug-seeking behavior and a jealous rage" as Arias was a friend of Noble's ex-girlfriend.

At the time of Arias' death, Noble was on probation for stabbing someone in Frederick County in 2017, prosecutors said.

The case was originally tried in September 2022 and ended with a hung jury. Noble was convicted of second-degree murder and armed robbery on June 9.
