Woman Found Murdered In Germantown Home Has Been Identified: Cops

Authorities have identified the woman found dead in a Germantown home Monday evening. The man accused of killing her is behind bars.

GERMANTOWN, MD — Montgomery County police have identified the woman found dead in a Germantown home Monday evening.

Jennifer Sparks, 39, of an unconfirmed address, was pronounced dead in the 20000 block of Dunstable Circle. Authorities say they found her body at the home of Lawrence Edward Sakkestad. They were initially called to the residence to investigate a possible assault.

According to police, Sakkestad, 34, admitted that he was involved in Sparks' murder after officers found her body.

Police have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding Sparks' death or the relationship she may have had Sakkestad.

Officials say the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore will conduct an autopsy to determine her cause of death.

Sakkestad has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder, court records show. No bond information is available at this time.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 4.
