Man Dies When SUV Rolls Over on Ritchie Highway: Police
The driver may have suffered a medical emergency before the Saturday morning crash, say Anne Arundel County police.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A local man died Saturday after the SUV he was driving struck a median on Ritchie Highway (MD 2) and rolled over, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Britt Edward Mitchell, 54, of the 7800 block of Twin Ridge Drive, sustained fatal injuries in the single-vehicle crash, the police said in a statement. They said the driver may have suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash, and there were no signs of alcohol or drugs being contributing factors.
At the time of the accident, Mitchell was driving his 2008 black Ford Expedition south on Ritchie Highway in the vicinity of 5th Avenue SE, and it was towing a trailer.

Witnesses said the Expedition began to stop in the highway's travel lane, and then it began to accelerate, swerving into the grass median, according to the police. It struck two small trees and rolled onto its roof.
Mitchell was transported to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was declared dead, the police said. He was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Baltimore for an autopsy.
