Pickup Driver Hits AAA Employee Along The Shoulder Of MD 10: AAPD

Police said the AAA employee was assisting a motorist stranded on the side of MD 10 when he was hit and injured by a passing pickup driver.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Anne Arundel County police officers responded to a single-vehicle crash June 26 at 5:22 p.m. involving an employee of AAA and a 2003 Ford F-150 pick-up truck. The accident occurred along Maryland Route 10 southbound north of Mountain Road in Glen Burnie.

The AAA employee, Arsalan Tassaddique Khan, 27, of Millersville, was assisting a motorist who had broken down on the left shoulder of MD 10. The Ford truck was traveling southbound on MD 10 and hit Khan, who was transported by ambulance to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries.

According to a police report, officials believed the primary cause of the crash was that the Ford truck driver, 49-year-old Steven Robinson of Baltimore, failed to remain in a single lane. However, the police report stated that alcohol and/or drugs may have contributed to the crash. The Traffic Safety Section is handing the crash investigation and the case will be reviewed by the States Attorney.
