Schools To Offer Evening Meals to Students

Students at select public schools in Anne Arundel County will have access to evening meals on the days that students participate in extracurricular activites or after-school child care.

The schools were "designated as eligible to receive federal funds to serve early evening meals" as part of the Child and Adult Care Food Program, according to a press release from Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS).

Five of the county's 13 participating schools are in Glen Burnie: , , , , and elementary schools. They were selected because 50 percent or more of students receive free or reduced-price meals, according to AACPS.

Each meal—served Monday through Thursday every week—will include a serving of milk, two servings of fruits and vegetables, one serving of grains, and one serving of protein.

Schools will individually announce when their programs will start, according to AACPS.
