Greenbelt, MD, March 18, 2013 - Beltway Plaza Mall today announced its “Beat the Furlough” Promotion created to help those who’ve been furloughed by the effects of the recent government sequestration. Beginning March 18, 2013 and running through April 29th anyone that’s been furloughed from their job can participate and receive a free lunch, fruit, cookie and a movie. Participants simply present the furlough notice from their employer stating the name and date(s) of the furlough and name of the employer to the Academy 8 Theater box office and Beltway Plaza Mall will provide coupons for a free lunch, cookie, fruit and movie.
“We want to help those that’ve been furloughed from their jobs with a stress free day. We think a free lunch and a movie will take their minds off the fact that they’ve been furloughed from their jobs,” said Marc “Kap” Kapastin of Quantum Companies, the firm that manages Beltway Plaza Mall.
Peter Repole of Three Brothers Italian Restaurant located in Beltway Plaza Mall was quoted, "Many of these furloughed workers have patronized Three Brothers Italian Restaurant for years and this ‘Beat the Furlough’ program represents just one of the ways we can show our support and appreciation".
Beltway Plaza Mall is located in Greenbelt, Maryland a neighbor of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Goddard Space Flight Center and many defense and NASA contractors are located in the area.
The promotion includes a free movie from Academy 8 Theaters and a free lunch at one of 7 restaurants and food purveyors in the Mall including:
o Dominican Restaurant
o Three Brothers Restaurant
o Subway
o Bun Café
o El Taco Rico
o Heavens Bakery
o Home Pretzel
o Fabulous Food
“We hope that local residents will take advantage of our promotional offer and come to the Mall and relax. We also have scheduled a number of entertainment events and other activities in the Mall this and next month,” Kapastin continued.
