MISHKAN TORAH TO SPONSOR "REVERSE TASCHLICH" STREAM CLEAN-UP ON MARCH 15

The Social Action Committee is sponsoring a stream cleanup from 9:00 am to noon on March 15

On Sunday, March 15, 2015, Mishkan Torah Synagogue’s Social Action Committee is sponsoring what is billed as a “Reverse Taslich” from 9:00 to noon. Usually performed on the Jewish New Year, “Tashlich” refers to the ancient Custom of throwing crumbs into a body of water to rid oneself symbolically of bad habits. In a modern twist, mishkan Torah is sponsoring a “Reverse Tashlich,” to reverse the effects of bad habits by cleaning up Beaverdam Creek, a local stream.

All are welcome to join in the cleanup, which is being co-sponsored by the Beaverdam Creek Watershed Watch Group. The event coincides with the Greater Washington Community’s Good Deeds Day 2015.

The clean up will take place behind Greenbriar Condominiums in Greenbelt, Maryland, 7600 Hanover Parkway. Drive as far as possible through Greenbriar Condominiums parking lot to the end of the units and closest to Route 295. Carpooling is encouraged as parking spaces are limited. Interested persons may meet at Mishkan Torah, 10 Ridge road , in Greenbelt at 8:45 am to carpool. Participants should wear work gloves, boots or sturdy shoes, long pants, and clothes that can get muddy. For any questions, please email office@mishkantorah.org. Participation in the event is free and open to the entire community.
