📰 News we're reading

• Greenbelt Will Lose 24/7 Unit Even As Response Times Climb (greenbeltnewsreview.com) — Greenbelt's fire station will lose its 24/7 paramedic ambulance by late September, leaving no EMS coverage from Greenbelt, College Park, or Beltsville after 3 p.m. or on weekends. City managers from Greenbelt and neighboring towns are pushing back, citing rising ALS and BLS response times that now often exceed the county's eight-minute goal and requesting restored, stable 24/7 staffing.

• Bedford-Dillow Named Editor Of the Greenbelt News Review (greenbeltnewsreview.com) — Greenbelt residents will see a familiar face leading their hometown paper, as longtime managing editor Anna Bedford-Dillow has been unanimously appointed editor of the Greenbelt News Review. She's credited with expanding coverage of county schools, firefighter staffing, and federal agencies whose decisions affect Greenbelters, while retiring editor Mary Lou Williamson stays on as editor emerita to support the transition.

• Carolyn Lambright-Davis Offers Zeal As the Outstanding Citizen for 2026 (greenbeltnewsreview.com) — Greenbelt has named community organizer and educator Carolyn Lambright-Davis its 2026 Outstanding Citizen for her work with CHEARS, Earth Squad, and the citywide Pumpkin Festival. Her programs connect Greenbelt youth to gardening, environmental stewardship, Black history, and civic engagement, while her voter registration drives and training efforts have strengthened participation and sustainable land care across the city.
