Tydings Bridge Crash Caused 2.5-Mile Backup, Injuries

Multiple vehicles crashed on Interstate 95 Sunday between Harford and Cecil counties, causing injuries and traffic jams.

Traffic stretched for 2.5 miles around the Tydings Bridge on Sunday afternoon, according to the Maryland Transportation Authority. A crash in the area caused Interstate 95 north to temporarily shut down in the area. Lane closures were in effect until after 2:30 p.m.

Four vehicles crashed on I-95 north near mile post 91 around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, officials said.

Those injured in the crash were being evaluated for conditions that were believed to be non-life-threatening, according to the Susquehanna Hose Company, which was at the scene.

Before 2 p.m. the Maryland Transportation Authority reported that all lanes were briefly closed on I-95 north on the Tydings Bridge for the crash response.

Traffic was backed up to the exit for MD 155, officials said, by about 2:15 p.m.

All lanes had reopened by 2:40 p.m., the Maryland Transportation Authority reported.
