An emergency call on Christmas in Havre de Grace demonstrates the importance of carbon monoxide detectors.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A carbon monoxide detector helped protect the residents living in a Havre de Grace duplex on Christmas Day, according to officials.

The Susquehanna Hose Company found high levels of carbon monoxide in the home in the 100 block of Bloomsbury Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, authorities reported. A carbon monoxide detector had gone off, prompting first responders to arrive.

A leak was found coming from the stove, according to the hose company, which reported first responders ventilated the building afterward.
