Harford Flags Lowered to Honor Bel Air Police Chief

Flags will be at half-staff until the day that would have been Chief Leo Matrangola's 63rd birthday.

In remembrance of a dedicated public servant, Harford County Executive Barry Glassman has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff until sunset on Saturday, July 18.

July 18 marks the day that Bel Air Police Chief Leo Matrangola, who died Sunday, would have turned 63, according to a statement from the county executive.

“I am saddened by the passing of Bel Air Police Chief Leo Matrangola,” Glassman said in a statement. “He was dedicated to the Town of Bel Air, he loved Harford County and we sincerely appreciate his many years of public service.“

The order to fly flags at half-staff is effective immediately, Glassman said Monday afternoon.
