Havre de Grace Coronavirus: National Drug Take Back Day Canceled

Residents can continue to deposit unwanted medicines in the drug drop box outside of the Havre de Grace Police Department.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Havre de Grace police have canceled the National Drug Take Back Day event scheduled for April 25, the department announced Thursday morning on Facebook. Unless the department learns the spread of the new coronavirus is subsiding and another spring event can be scheduled, the next Drug Take Back event will be held October 24, 2020.

Police said the department's drug box, located outside of the entrance to the Havre de Grace Police Department, is still open and accepting unwanted, expired, damaged or excess medications.

National Drug Take Back Day is an effort by the Drug Enforcement Administration to prevent abuse of prescription drugs and put a stop to drug addiction and overdose deaths.
