Havre de Grace Protests Planned This Weekend
Several demonstrations are planned in Havre de Grace calling for reform.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A demonstration is planned in Havre de Grace Saturday afternoon. It is one of two protests taking place in the area on Saturday, and another is planned for Sunday.
Together We Will, Harford County is hosting a "Ride for Equal Justice," which will consist of a drive by every police station headquarters in Harford County. Participants will invite leaders to dialogue, and organizers plan to deliver a list of changes they say are needed to ensure equity in policing. The Harford County NAACP, Caucus of African American Leaders and BRIDGE MD will be participating.
The Ride for Equal Justice will begin in Havre de Grace, course through Aberdeen, travel to Bel Air and conclude at Rockfield Park, where organizers and local leaders will discuss next steps.

It is expected to run from 9:45 to 11:30 a.m., according to organizers, who encouraged participants to bring their signs, flags, masks and voices to the event.

In Havre de Grace, the group will meet at 9:45 a.m. at 162 South Juniata Street in the parking lot of Havre de Grace High School by the gym/auditorium.
Drivers will be directed to line up with their flashers blinking, as if for a funeral procession "because this is a funeral procession for George Floyd," organizers said. Hundreds of protests have sprung up across the country after the death of Floyd, 46, on Memorial Day in Minneapolis in police custody.
At 10 a.m., drivers will leave via the Bourbon Street exit and turn left onto Freedom Street, left onto Pennington and past the Havre de Grace Police Department. Drivers are encouraged to honk as they pass by the station, where protesters will be holding signs and delivering a letter with their list of changes needed. Then they will proceed to the Aberdeen Police Department.
Demonstration Near City Hall
At 3:30 p.m. on SAturday, another demonstration is planned near Havre de Grace City Hall and the Havre de Grace Police Department.
Officials with the Havre de Grace Police Departments say they plan to "actively participate to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for our citizens to exercise their constitutional rights."
Sunday Demonstration
A third event in Havre de Grace is reportedly slated for Sunday. According to Together We Will/Upper Chesapeake, it will be held at the Swan Creek Village Center.
The event will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at 2021 Pulaski Highway — off US 40 where Bill Bateman's Bistro used to be.
