HdG Business Owner On 'Cake Hunters'

Sweet Eats Cakes of Havre de Grace is in the national spotlight.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — A Havre de Grace business owner was featured this week on national TV. Samantha Chmielewski was on "Cake Hunters" on the Cooking Channel.

Chmielewski owns Sweet Eats Cakes on Saint John Street.

She was featured on the Dec. 28 episode on "Cake Hunters," according to the Havre de Grace Alliance, which promotes economic development and tourism in the city.

Here is what the Cooking Channel says about the episode: "Horror film fanatic Monica craves a wedding cake as spooky as a scary movie, but her fiance, Jesse, wants a cake that represents their home state of Maryland. Three scary-talented bakers take a stab at creating a Maryland Wedding Cake of Horrors — one that will leave Monica and Jesse's guests screaming for more!"

The episode will be re-broadcast on the Cooking Channel at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19; 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20; and 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 2.

Chmielewski, whose cake making began as a hobby, first opened Sweet Eats Cakes in Bel Air in October 2014. The shop moved to Havre de Grace in 2016 as the demand for her creations grew, and business has been flourishing there ever since.

"Congratulations, Samantha Chmielewski, on your television debut!" the Havre de Grace Alliance posted on Facebook this week.
