HdG Named Among Top 10 Getaways: Philadelphia Inquirer
The annual Pirate Fest in Havre de Grace was named one of the best road trips for people from Philly.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD – The upcoming Pirate Fest is one of the top road trips for the summer, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The newspaper offered up 10 suggestions for drive-worthy getaways, and the annual swashbuckling event along the Susquehanna River made the cut.
Pirate Fest is held at the Susquehanna Museum at the Lock House from Friday, June 10, to Sunday, June 12. The weekend kicks off with a pub crawl in downtown Havre de Grace Friday night, followed by a Saturday morning Pirate 5K and Saturday evening Buccaneer Bash. There will be a pirate encampment on the museum grounds Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Cost is $3 for those at least 12 years old; people younger than 12 are free.

The hat-tip from The Philadelphia Inquirer is the latest in a series of recognitions Havre de Grace has garnered as a worthy destination.
The city has one of the Best Small Downtowns in America for 2015, according to Best Choice Reviews, which ranked it 11th on its list of the top 50 small downtowns.

Havre de Grace was also named among the Best Small Towns to Visit in 2014 by Smithsonian magazine.

In addition to the Pirate Fest, the Tri-State Wing-Off (June 18) in Cumberland and PA Cider Fest (June 25) in Adams County, Pa., also made the Inquirer's list of best road trips.
