HdG Police To Plunge Into Chesapeake Bay

Officers from the Havre de Grace Police Department will be heading outside the city on Friday to take the plunge.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The Havre de Grace Police Department will be getting into the chilly waters of the Chesapeake Bay on Friday, Jan. 25. Its members are participating in the Polar Bear Plunge, an annual event that benefits the Special Olympics.

Plungers must pledge $75 for the chance of making their way into the Chesapeake Bay.

There are 12 members of the Havre de Grace Police Department participating.

The plunge raises money for the 7,782 Special Olympics Maryland athletes who train and compete year-round throughout the state in free programs.

In addition to the Havre de Grace Police Department, police around the state will take to the waters at noon on Friday, Jan. 25.

Afterward, companies will make their way into the bay for the Corporate Plunge, and on Saturday, Jan. 26, kids and families will take their turn in the Pee Wee & Family Plunge.
