HdG Absentee Ballots Still Needed to Finalize Election Results

The Harford County Board of Elections is still waiting for some absentee ballots to come in from Tuesday's municipal election in Havre de Grace.

The race involved three positions on the city council, with four candidates running. Approximately 11 percent of the registered voters in Havre de Grace turned out at the precinct on May 6 to vote, Harford County Board of Elections Director Dale Livingston said.

Four absentee ballots are still outstanding, and they are coming from overseas, according to Livingston.

The deadline for absentee ballots is May 16, at which time the board will take a final tally and provide official results for the entire election, Livingston said.

"We had 11 absentee ballots that came back and 11 provisional ballots," Livingston told Patch on Friday. Three provisional ballots were rejected for various reasons, she said.

From the absentee ballots that were collected, Livingston said six were counted in a tally Thursday and five were held back to keep the selections on the outstanding ballots anonymous.

According to Livingston, the eight provisional and six absentee ballots, counted Thursday, May 8, yielded the following totals:

Bill Martin—14
Steve Gamatoria—10
David Glenn—9
Bob Robinson—0

The votes would not change the outcome of the election, due to the number of votes each candidate received from the precinct, which Patch previously reported were Martin with 716, Glenn with 716, Gamatoria with 682 and Robinson with 296.
