Havre de Grace Library Branch Manager Retires

Irmgarde Brown, the branch manager of Havre de Grace Library, is retiring.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — Beloved Havre de Grace library manager Irmgarde Brown is retiring. The Havre de Grace City Council and mayor honored Brown, who has been the head of the Havre de Grace branch for nine years, at its most recent council meeting, providing her with a special coin that she will take with her on a mission trip to build a library in Zambia, according to The Aegis.

Brown will officially retire as of Jan. 1, the newspaper reported, after 28 years with the Harford County Public Library.

During her time as branch manager, Brown oversaw the opening of the new library in June 2016, including its stint on Market Street. She also came up with innovative outreach efforts to enhance the library's programs.
