The modified lockdown was put in place "due to a police incident in the surrounding community," Lader said in a statement after 9:30 a.m. "We know that some students are on buses and will be or are arriving at school at this time. Staff will be at the buses to escort students into the building."
School officials said there was no danger, and the measure — which included not participating in classes outdoors — was precautionary.
