One Rescued From Water In Deer Creek: Officials

First responders rescued a boater Friday from the Susquehanna River.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD — Officials said that one person was rescued Friday afternoon from the Susquehanna River in Harford County. Emergency crews from multiple areas responded.

A boat with two people inside capsized near Shuresville Landing after 3 p.m. on Friday, April 19, according to Jenn Chenworth, spokeswoman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

One person was able to get to shore, Chenworth said, while the other boater was stranded in the river on a rock.

Crews from Darlington, Level and the Susquehanna Hose Company assisted in the rescue, according to the hose company.

By 3:50 p.m., the Susquehanna Hose Company reported the swift water rescue crew with zodiac had deployed from Lapidum Landing to rescue the individual, who was about 100 feet from shore.

Crews cleared the scene after 4:30 p.m., according to Chenworth. She said the Maryland Department of Natural Resources is investigating.
