'Possibly Kimchi' In Suspicious Package On Revolution: Officials

The fire marshal shared the results of the bomb squad's investigation into the suspicious package at EZ Quick in Havre de Grace.

HAVRE DE GRACE, MD — The bomb squad was called after the owner of a convenience store in Havre de Grace reported a suspicious package outside his business Friday. Upon probing a dark bag found at the EZ Quick on Revolution Street, the fire marshal said investigators found various sundries.

Clothing and food, "possibly kimchi," were wrapped in a dark bag that was placed next to the propane tank outside the store in the 800 block of Revolution Street, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

The owner of the EZ Quick noticed the package at 3:16 p.m. and notified authorities.

Havre de Grace and Baltimore County police, including bomb squad personnel, responded to the call about the suspicious package, and a bomb disposal robot remotely opened it.

"The items were inspected and cleared," the fire marshal said. "The items were later discovered to be clothing and food, possibly kimchi."

Kimchi is a Korean dish made of pickled cabbage and other vegetables seasoned with chili paste and other spices.

Revolution Street was closed in the area of Juniata Street from approximately 5:30 to 6:45 p.m., Havre de Grace police said.

The fire marshal said that nobody was injured.
