UPDATE: Man Rescued at Rocks State Park, Officials Say
Route 24 was temporarily closed during emergency response.

HARFORD COUNTY, MD -- A man was taken to a regional trauma center Wednesday night after a rescue at Rocks State Park.
The victim—a 25-year-old off-duty Harford County Sheriff’s deputy—fell approximately 20 feet while rappelling, The Aegis reported.
A technical rescue team was dispatched just before 5 p.m. to assist the man, who was injured near King and Queen Seat, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association.

Rocks Road/MD 24 was closed to allow for the fire and rescue equipment at Saint Clair Bridge Road, and crews planned to deploy from the base and the foot of King and Queen Seat to find the victim, Gardiner said.
By 6:17 p.m. the man had been rescued, according to Gardiner, who said he was taken to a regional trauma center for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

By 6:38 p.m., Gardiner said first responders had cleared the scene and MD 24 had reopened.
