Snow Totals: How Much Fell in HdG Area?

Preliminary snowfall measurements are in from areas near Havre de Grace.

The highest measurements from the latest snowfall in Harford County came from Bel Air and Whiteford, which received 4 inches, according to preliminary numbers from the National Weather Service.

Originally, officials were calling for 4 to 8 inches of snow for the Havre de Grace area.

Here are the unofficial snow totals from Harford County for Tuesday, Feb. 17:

  • Bel Air—4 inches; reported at 9:33 a.m.
  • Whiteford—4 inches; reported at 11 a.m.
  • Harford Furnace—3.5 inches; reported at 7:31 a.m.
  • Darlington—3.1 inches; reported at 8:12 a.m.
  • Bel Air—3 inches; reported at 8:26 a.m.
  • Norrisville—3 inches; reported at 8 a.m.
  • East Bel Air—2.8 inches; reported at 5:49 a.m.

The most snow in the state was reported shortly after 9 a.m. out of Hollywood in St. Mary’s County, with 8.9 inches, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow on Top of Snow

The latest snowfall came on top of the Valentine’s Day weekend storm, which delivered high winds and a bit of snow in the region.

Havre de Grace recorded 53 mph winds on Saturday, Feb. 14, according to unofficial reports from the National Weather Service. Hickory had winds up to 49 mph at 3:04 a.m. Sunday.

As far as snow was concerned, Bel Air had 2 inches as of 7 a.m. and Norrisville had 2 inches as of 8 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 15, unofficial reports said.

The most snow from the weekend storm was in Allegany County, which had 5 inches in Frostburg reported at approximately 8:15 p.m. on Valentine’s Day. Parts of Howard County (Simpsonville and Columbia) had at least 4 inches, according to the unofficial reports.
