'Significant Storm Damage' Reported in Harford: Emergency Manager

Emergency Manager Rick Ayers says recovery from storm is not over yet.

Utility issues and road closures persist after Tuesday night’s storms blew through Harford County, where hundreds of Delmarva and BGE customers without power.

As of 10:55 p.m. Wednesday, there were 1,217 Delmarva customers without power and 36 BGE customers without power.

The storm left “significant” damage behind, according to Harford County Emergency Manager Rick Ayers.

“Harford County has significant storm damageand the recovery effort will most likely continue through tomorrow night,” Ayers said in a statement at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

“At this time, there are still over 4,000 households without power and County Executive Barry Glassman has asked for additional resources to help speed up the restoration time for those without power,” Ayers said.

The county activated its emergency operations center to monitor the situation, and established a hotline citizens could call until 11 p.m. Wednesday if they have concerns: 410-838-5800.

Harford County government is reporting there are still several closures Wednesday evening:

  • Falling Branch Road—Tree down on wires across road
  • Stafford Road at Rock Run Road—Tree down across road
  • 1000 block of St. Mary’s Road—Tree across road
  • MD 136 north of Archer and MD 24
  • MD 24 between Cherry Hill and Davis Road
  • Route 23 at the Pennsylvania line
  • Route 623 by Smith Road, only one lane getting by

Between noon and 7:15 p.m., several roads reopened, officials said: East Nobles Mill Road, Quaker Church Road, Wheeler School Road, Susquehanna Hall Road, Onion and Neil roads, Allibone Road and Glenville Road near MD 161.
