Mayor Bill Martin introduced the name Veterans Park in September, as the development was nearing completion, according to The Aegis.

Martin reportedly said the park is designed to be separate from the memorial at Tydings Park in that it is a “fluid living park” honoring veterans who are alive as well as those who have passed, with a design that encourages people to walk around and reflect.
