10 Things to Know in Irene's Aftermath

Hurricane Irene has come and gone, and  on Hunt Valley. Now that the storm has literally passed, here's a list of things you need to know to cope with the aftermath. 

1. Many traffic lights in Hunt Valley, especially on the busy York and Shawan roads, are still out. Please be sure to treat these lights as if they are stop signs and exercise caution on the roads. 

2. According to BGE, 119,238 Baltimore County customers are without power. For the most up-to-date information on recovery efforts, follow this power outage map. 

3. Did any trees fall on your property? Check out this comprehensive list from our neighbors at to find out whom to call for help.

4. If you see any downed power lines, stay away! Call BGE at 410-685-0123 for assistance.  

5. Do you have home insurance? FEMA offers tips on how to go about filing a claim. The site also provides great advice for rebuilding after a natural disaster.
