McDaniel College Names Jennifer Jimenez Maraña Director of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs

Jennifer Jimenez Maraña has been named director of diversity and multicultural affairs at McDaniel College. She joins McDaniel effective July 1. 

Maraña has 15 years of experience working in higher education serving most recently as an associate dean at Claremont McKenna College in Calif. In this role, she counseled and advised freshmen and transfer students. She was also active on the Diversity Committee and worked closely with the staff of various cultural centers at the college.

In addition, she was assistant dean of students and director of multicultural affairs at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., and worked on advancing minority women’s leadership in higher education at the American Council on Education.

About joining McDaniel, she said, “This is an amazing opportunity for me to bring my skills and experience to an institution that is committed to diversity. I look forward to partnering with and learningfrom McDaniel’s students, staff, and faculty.”

She has a master’s degree in counseling and personnel services from the University of Maryland, College Park, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is working on a Ph.D. in higher education from Claremont Graduate University.

A native of Redwood City, Calif., she currently resides in Hunt Valley, Md.
